The barriers that have created separate worlds
among one humanity were created by men.
"First World." "Third World." Forget what you were told.

Media, Music and Art for a Better World

Serving Lowell, Massachusetts and Beyond!

Second World is a dynamic non profit arts organization combining media and music and art for a better world. Second World's nucleus is it's fairly traded art projects, which help bridge the gap between the "First" and "Third World."

Second World was founded in 1997 by Valerie Parker-Diallo with hopes to connect those in search of a more equitable world economy together in the name of one common mission: to preserve fast fading indigenous cultures, and in turn keep a piece of our humanity intact in these globalized times...

What does Second World Address Through its Work?

"One-third of the original North American languages have been lost, two-thirds in Australia. Eighty-seven tribes disappeared in Brazil alone in the first half of this century. Yet most of the world's cultural and genetic diversity reside in these small, unique cultures. At a pace that only increases, these cultures face the tragic choice of living in a homogeneous global culture, or being eradicated altogether."

- Chinnagounder's Challenge: The Question of Ecological Citizenship (1999), by Deane Curtin
